About company
The history of the Gimnàs Social Sant Pau is a strange combination of the struggle for survival, the conviction that every company has an obligation to its territory and much of that colloquial phrase "from lost to the river". A kind of encounters under a hostile scenario and endless threats. A kind of homage to Buster Keaton comedies.
In June 1940, the Popular Baths of Barcelona were inaugurated, built by Aguas de Barcelona, in those days of municipal ownership. A space to shower and with the first chlorine pool in Barcelona. Neighbors could go to shower for a peseta and for a peseta and a half they also had access to the pool. The idea was clear; that the poor people of the Raval neighborhood (in those times known as Chinatown), were not the source of infections and epidemics, such as the typhus epidemic that the city suffered in 1914.
